MCFN is an independent, nonpartisan organization reporting on the impact of finance and politics in the state of Michigan since 1996. The nonprofit focuses on in-depth research and analysis to inform all voters on campaign finances.
What We Did
We created an email alerts system that scrapes live Michigan political financial transactions to deliver relevant and timely insights to the journalists, analysts, and MCFN-affiliated groups. The platform filters and aggregates transactions, flagging contributions over $1000 and expenditures over $5000, and provides mailing list subscribers with same-day visibility into significant political spending in Michigan.
